PHYSICAL THERAPY
AIDE
Overview: Physical Therapy Aides are skilled health care
workers who help Physical Therapists in giving treatment to patients with
musculoskeletal problems. Typical duties include giving heat, light, and
sound treatments, massages and exercises that help heal muscles, nerves,
bones, and joints. Another important duty is patient instruction that
include motivating patients to learn or improve techniques in rehabilitation
in performing activities of daily living. This program covers 40 theory
hours and 40 clinical hours.
Career Outlook: Physical Therapy Aides are health care
workers who provide various treatments under the direction of physical
therapists. California Projections of employment estimates that the number
of Physical Therapy Aides will reach 15,600 by 2005, an increase in new
jobs of 7,260 over the number ten years ago.
Admission Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED certificate
- Certified Nurse Assistant
- Entrance Test
- CPR certification
